Race Day Cometh!

Yay! All those weeks of training, recovery, managing little injuries, getting to bed early, eating right, abstaining from excess are now about to be ‘seen’, on the course! Race Day Is your victory lap to all your weeks and months of training! Congratulate yourself that you’re here, no matter what happens!

Here are some guidelines for being prepared for race day, based on my years of running distance races, and making lots of mistakes! Each race experience is unique. Savour the build up, the prep, the crowd, the race course, the tough parts and the strong parts. Even though everyone gets a finishing medal, wear yours with pride for the day or two after (people will think you ‘won’)! And journal about each race: what went well, what was surprising, where you could have planned better, who you met, etc.

  1. Map the route:
  2. Nutrition the 3 days before: carb-loading is a myth . . .
  3. Pick up your race kit in advance
  4. Charge your Garmin!
  5. Use a paceband as well
  6. Plan A, Plan B, Plan C.

And more! To be coached on these techniques and others for your race day prep, sign up for our
